Q.  Who loads or publishes work onto eVidi?

A. You do if you are a Subscriber. You upload your portfolio and other information you want people to see onto your own eVidi micro site, whether you consider yourself to be a professional or emerging artist, for a yearly subscription. There's no committee deciding on whether or not your work should be there (although we do keep a sharp eye on any potentially offending or unsocial postings!).

Q.   Why should I subscribe?

A. Once you have your own micro site on eVidi, it becomes your showcase to the world ? and you even have your own URL: yourname.evidi.com. This means search engines will find your own personal micro site more easily, but at the same time you get all the advantages of having your work on one of the worlds most exciting creative forums. So eVidi ensures your talent and skills are seen by world for just a nominal annual subscription, so register on-line today!

Q.   How can eVidi help me if I represent an art school, agent or gallery?

A. Find out more by clicking the links above now!

Q.   Do I control my own eVidi micro site?

A. Yes! Upload your own work with descriptions and prices if applicable, information about yourself as soon as you have registered as a Subscriber! You can change, add and remove the work you show on your micro site at any time and as often as you like. It should comply with our policies and must be your own though ? check our terms if in doubt! Managing your micro site is very straightforward and even if you have little Internet experience the system will guide you through intuitively.

Q.   How do I get seen?

A. The site has been designed to allow visitors to find you as an artist quickly or the work on your portfolio by browsing for a category they are interested in. So it is important you categorise your work carefully. Visitors can communicate directly with you (but your email address will remain anonymous, unless you reply direct to them) to ask questions and, if applicable, negotiate with you to purchase your work, commission your services or even offer you a job! Once you are a Subscriber there is nothing more to pay - everything you do is entirely in your own hands. eVidi devotes its involvement with you to maintaining and managing the site, providing services and facilities to assist your activities and markets the eVidi name to maximize exposure to visitors from around the world. Enjoy the eVidi experience and good luck!

Q.   Who sees my Registration details?

A. Only eVidi administration. The first time you apply to Subscribe you will be asked to complete your personal details. This information cannot be seen by visitors at any time. You need to complete this before proceeding and can change information such as your password any time in the future.

Pay Pal Details

Q.   Which credit/debit cards can I use and is payment secure?

A. You can use most credit and debit cards to pay for your Subscription. These are entered through the secure Pay pal payment system. You will have to fill in some of the same details as the Registration section. This is because the Pay Pal is quite separate and the details you enter are secure and private to you and Pay Pal only. None of this information is passed or retained by eVidi. Once you have completed this section it will not appear again. Pay Pal will send you an independent email to confirm the transaction has been completed, together with an electronic invoice and receipt.

Your Information

Q.   So how do I set up my eVidi micro site?

A. Once the payment process is completed, you can set up your own micro site on eVidi. A page automatically comes up with your name as the heading and the name you have given your micro site. This is the My Information page about you. The General Resume is your description of yourself and your creative activity for everyone to see and understand something about you. It's really useful to add a Resume as people want to know about the artist! If you are a creative looking for a job, the more information you give about your qualifications and art schools attended will help. You can do this the first time you register or any time in the future. Art Schools and Projects are optional but they do interlink with the database and will come up if anyone is trying to trace you or search for specific skills. You should click all the boxes on the Specialisation section that are relevant to you as this will help people locate you if looking for a certain type of artist.

Your Photo you can add now or another time. If you wish to do it now, click the Browse button. The Choose File box comes up in the top left hand corner. Select a file, for example suppose that your photo is stored on your computer in My Pictures. Click this then click the OPEN button. In the box to the left of the Browse box the file name will be shown. If this is your photo, click the SUBMIT button and your photo will be uploaded. A box will appear in the middle of the screen showing the progress of the upload.

When the uploading has finished, the box will disappear and you can then click on the My Portfolio tab and begin the process of exhibiting your work to the public. This is how you will load your work later too. When you are happy with the details contained on this page, click the SUBMIT button.

Add Portfolio Page

Q.  How do I get my work ready to upload and publish on eVidi?

A. You will need to have digital files of the work you wish to publish on your micro site saved to your computer's hard disk or on a CD.

Q.   Does it matter about the size and type of digital files I have?

A. Whenever possible it is best to upload images as small .gif files, movies in swf (Flash) files and music tracks in Media player files. This way they will be shown at the fastest speed possible when visitors are viewing them. Save-for-web is an option most applications allow you to make on saving that puts work in the best format. Then select low quality for faster loading.

Q.   Do I have to have all my work ready to upload in one go?

A. No. You do not have to do it all the first time you register as you can add, delete or change anything at any later time.

Q.   So how do I load/publish my work?

A. The first time you access this page you will see "Your Portfolio Contains '0' Items". Thereafter it will display a list of your work. Click the 'Add' button to add a new piece of work:

The first thing you need to do is select a Category from the drop down list for your piece of work:

Some Categories have Sub-Categories.

A Sub-Category should be selected for your work wherever possible to ensure visitors will be able to work or information for your site is stored you will need to be able to access it electronically to upload it when you click the ADD MEDIA button on your site (see next section). The help section later on will guide you through this process as well.

It is not necessary to identify an art school or project against any particular work. It is however sometimes convenient for students and tutors or in the case of major projects like competitions, particularly if your work received distinction.

The Title should be imaginative or catchy, this will usually be displayed underneath the image when displayed. The Description should contain the words in the Title and a description that visitors may use to find work when searching eVidi with keywords: "oil, canvas, bronze, film, song, river, love, boat, dog, caricature, cartoon, house, jazz, TV, commercial, corporate design, web design" etc.

Finally on this page, select whether the work is for sale or not, and if it is, what your asking price is.

The next stage is to add the digital media best showcasing your work:

Click on "Click to Upload Media". If you cannot see these words, scroll down the page to the end.

You will see this page:

You will need to have digital files of the work you wish to publish on your micro site saved to you computer?s hard disk or on a CD. Click on the Browse button on this screen and you will be able to locate the file you need, i.e. in My Pictures folder etc.

Select the file you want then click the Windows OPEN button. In the box to the left of the Browse box the file name will be shown. If this is your photo, click the SUBMIT button and your photo will be uploaded. A box will appear in the middle of the screen showing the progress of the upload. When the uploading has finished, the box will disappear.

When the upload is completed Your Portfolio page will come up and you will see your work on the page with the title you have given it. It is now on view to everyone and when visitors search eVidi for work like yours they will see it. You will see how many times it has been viewed every time you look at your portfolio page.

You can now upload 3 more files relating to this piece of work, or start a completely new piece altogether by clicking the Add button at the top of the page.

We wish you every success!
